What can be deduced about the character of Atticus from his defense of Tom Robinson? Has your idea about Atticus changed in this last chapter?

i´m the first =) well, i think that atticus is a real lower, the good ones. he thiks that it´s his duty to defend him and also in that way he is giving the exaple to his kids. no racial discrimination, and that we have to put in the shoes of others in order to understand them
i agree with cande..he is a fair lawyer and he really trust himself. He is not afraid about what can people say about him..he just does his job as better as he can. atticus is one of my favourite characters i really like the way he talks to scout :)
Definetly Atticus is my favourite character. But my point of view really changed in this chapter. He is loyal and brave, he doesn´t care what other people think of him. HE IS AN EXAMPLE FOR FOLLOWING YOUR BELIEFS. Also he is patient and knows how to take care of Jem and Scout on his own. I really like him
in my opinion atticus trys to be the best lawyer as well as the perfect father trying to teach his children whats good and right. Defending Tom in the tribunals makes him be proud of himself because he is fighting for what he believes.
In my opinion the attitude of Atticus is really brave. Taking the position of defending a black man in that time was really dificult. Is a great man and a great layer.
Well, I agree with you about the fact that Atticus is becoming more of a hero in this last chapter we have read. ´Lawyer' is his occupation (for the ones who have problems spelling!!). As you said, he is doing what he believes is right, even knowing in advance that it is very probable that he is not going to be successful. It's very brave to do the right thing knowing that we are going to lose. Great comments, kids!
Atticus does in the trail what he believes is right. He folloes the truth and in all of his actions he tries to protect his children for the society but he is not ashamed for defending tom

Welcome to our blog! Here we will keep in touch during the whole school year and share our activities.
Instructions: For each reading assignment I would like you to post something to this blog about the reading. Among the things you may want to comment on are:
1- Things that have happened in the story at this point and their significance to the overall story.
2- Characters (their actions, motivations, what they say, how they affect other characters, etc.)
3- Quotes from the reading, especially if they are significant in developing the many themes in the novel.
4- Questions that you have about what you've read (including things you don't understand)
Make sure that you put your name at the beginning of each entry you make so that we know who you are as we read the blog.I hope to make this blog a major part of our class discussion over the daily reading, but how effective that is depends entirely on what you contribute. Remember, you need to post something for each reading assignment, and it must be posted before you come to class. I will leave the length up to you, but what you write should be long enough to meaningfully contribute to our discussion. I will discuss with you a fair way to give credit for these blog postings.

i think he thinks he has to defend him because it's his duty as a lawer, or maybe he just like niggers.

Atticus just does his job, as he has to
