mmm i really don't know, from what I understood is that a men with a Bible can be dangerous because he can explain religion from his point of view or say things that are wrong and make other people to thing like him. Well i'm not sure teacher if it is right or wrong =S we'll disscus this in class.

I dont know who Miss Mauddie is, so I really cant say which is her point of view or the context in which teh statmente is said. The bible gives you knowledge and belief, so you are lightened, while the whiskey can take you to any part, and having no problems, I really dont understand much
I think that the Bible gives people some keys for their life and is their responsability to use them in a wrong or a right way. Maybe the man takes advantage of them to do something wrong "because the Bible says that is not a sin" but he didn't find the real meaning.
Well i think that the bible represents knowladge, so if a man have it, it have power and sometimes he can use it wrong, and a bottle of whishky it is only something that pass and there it finish, a bottle of whisky is nothing.
The wrong interpretation of the bible can produce disasters (as current religions), and that wrong message of a wrong interpretation reachs other people.
A bottle of whiskey in the hand of one man can be treated.
i agree with the other classmates, i think whisky is better than a bible :p jeje, a man with a bible can say whatever he imagine reading it, so about all this we can say, viva el whisky! xD

the bible is kind of "subjetive", so the man who is interpreting it is in someway winning knowledge and gives him the oportunitie to use it in real life, even if it is for good or bad.
But a bottle of whiskey does not takes the same importance as the bible and no one gives serious attention to the efects that causes.

How nice to have Nancy as an international member of the blog! I think if Nancy explained about the Jim Crow laws and all the black/white situation in America at the time of TKAM it would be a great idea and would give our students a lot of very useful background knowlegde.
Kids, as regards the quote: do you think a bottle of whisky in the hands of Atticus, for example, would be a dangerous thing? Why?
And how about the Bible in the hands of someone who interprets it his own way and takes the Bible literally? Could that be dangerous? Why? I think Tatu pretty much hit the nail on the head in that sense.
well i totally agree with tatu =)
anyone who understand or take literatly what the bible says can be really dangerous as many others will probably follow or trust her/him. that can be really complicated. and a man with a bottle of wisky may be it´s not as dangerous as what i mention before
if you are guide by the bible literaly things can turn wrong, for ejeample the saudis who think that they have to kill the people that dont believe in Ala
