Short Stories: "TEA" by Saki
What do you think of the title of the story- TEA? Is the story really about tea , or is it tea used as a symbol for something else? If so, what? What other title would you suggest for this story?

The short story Tea, was about James Clushot-Princkley, a man who had a settled conviction that he would marry soon, and he had a lot of expectaction about that. One day he knowed an ordinary woman, Rhoda Ellam who didn´t have everything James wanted but without reasons he asked her to marry him. I enjoyed reading this story and i think that the name of it, is being used as a symbol to show different ways of life, once a nice rich woman and the other with straitened circumstances and a simple life. But finally the two stiles ended up in the same way. "They were sitting at the table behind dainty porcelain, while they were drinking TEA."
Well, at first I was very glas to find your comments...but Mati, sorry, I couldn't understand....are you saying women can't do anything???? Worried Teacher
In my opinion, the story is good. Not the best, but good. despite what others said, the ending hold the meaning if the story. It `shwos that no matter how a person tries to do something that is not accepted by the whole society, he/she will change to be traditional, just like what the society wants. Also, the title is very significant, because tea is not special for one nation. Tea is international and everybody drinks tea.

Welcome to our blog! Here we will keep in touch during the whole school year and share our activities.
Instructions: For each reading assignment I would like you to post something to this blog about the reading. Among the things you may want to comment on are:
1- Things that have happened in the story at this point and their significance to the overall story.
2- Characters (their actions, motivations, what they say, how they affect other characters, etc.)
3- Quotes from the reading, especially if they are significant in developing the many themes in the novel.
4- Questions that you have about what you've read (including things you don't understand)
Make sure that you put your name at the beginning of each entry you make so that we know who you are as we read the blog.I hope to make this blog a major part of our class discussion over the daily reading, but how effective that is depends entirely on what you contribute. Remember, you need to post something for each reading assignment, and it must be posted before you come to class. I will leave the length up to you, but what you write should be long enough to meaningfully contribute to our discussion. I will discuss with you a fair way to give credit for these blog postings.

this story is bad because it doesn´t exist a woman that can do something .... for me tea is a simbol of nothing

I like the story, i believe that it talks about high society customs and tea is one the symbols the writer uses to show this.
